What Is Electrostatic Flocking?

Electrostatic flocking is a surface treatment process that utilizes the physical principle that like charges repel and opposite charges attract. In this process, flock fibers are negatively charged, while the object to be flocked is placed at zero potential or grounded. Under the action of an electrostatic field, the charged fibers are attracted by the oppositely charged object and accelerate vertically toward its surface.

Since the surface of the object is coated with an adhesive, the flock fibers are deposited upright and firmly bonded to the surface. Therefore, electrostatic flocking is a modern production process that takes advantage of the natural properties of electric charges to achieve a uniform, vertical, and dense flocking effect.
