Process Principle of Electrostatic Flocking Equipment

Electrostatic flocking equipment mainly works with cut textile fibers. When these fibers are electrically charged, under specific conditions and with the assistance of pneumatic force, tens of thousands of flock fibers are propelled vertically toward the surface of a substrate or printed object that has been coated with an adhesive. Through this process, electrostatic flocking equipment manufacturers are able to produce seamless flocked surfaces that combine functionality, reliability, and high quality. This production method is both economical and reliable.

Tens of thousands of precisely cut short fibers (flock) are charged on one side of the electrode and projected vertically onto objects (substrates) that have been pre-coated with flocking adhesive. Electrostatic flocking equipment is suitable not only for smooth surfaces—such as textiles, printed materials, metals, or metal foils—but also for three-dimensional objects of various shapes.

The selection of flocking adhesive must be compatible with the surface material of the substrate. By choosing different flock lengths (0.5 mm, 1.0 mm, 2.0 mm, or longer) and different fiber fineness levels (0.9 dtex, 1.7 dtex, 3.3 dtex, 6.6 dtex, or above), a variety of surface effects can be achieved, ranging from soft and delicate to firm and rough textures.

Flock fibers can be made from natural cotton, man-made fibers, nylon, polyester, or acrylic. Among these materials, nylon flock is the most widely used due to its positive electrostatic properties.

The drying process firmly fixes the flock fibers within the adhesive layer, ensuring strong adhesion and long-term durability.

Depending on the processing technique, the flocking process—such as that performed by the F02 flocking machine—may be the final step in production for products such as printed fabrics, embossed materials, or hot foil stamped products. If the adhesive is applied only to selected areas, patterned flocking is achieved; if the adhesive is applied across the entire surface, full-surface flocking is produced.
